The president of the PNL, Nicolae Ciucă, spoke, on Saturday, in Chisinau, about the danger represented by the populist and extremist parties. It is a great joy to return approximately three weeks after my last presence in the Republic of Moldova and to have the possibility of a dialogue and the honor of addressing such a powerful organization as the PNL Republica Moldova branch. (…) The National Liberal Party, out of conviction and responsibility for the memory of everything that meant the ideals of the PNL, the deeds of the PNL, we crossed, we cross and we will cross the Prut whenever we need it”, declared, Nicolae Ciucă, during a conference on the occasion of the PNL's visit to the Republic of Moldova.

The PNL president drew attention to populism and extremism and the need to fight so that they do not spread.

I was recently, last week, last weekend, in fact, with Romanians from the Diaspora, from Spain and from France. And I was there because I said that it is beneficial for them, but also for us, to raise that alarm signal that everyone is talking about, but too few people commit to doing something, namely strengthening the units of the Romanians wherever they are find out and the awareness of the growth of this component of populism and extremism. Shere are people who have gone through life, we each had our experiences, our professions, we are people with families, with children, with grandchildren. We must start speaking, have the courage to speak, go back in history and see what happened in history when extremist parties, populist parties were in power and take on this fight against populism and extremism“, said Ciucă.

The PNL leader drew attention to some “false promises” made by the representatives of the two currents, stressing the need to know “the effects of our action or inaction”.

“Because it isthere are vectors and tools that allow the exponents of these two currents to reach rather than us who are normal, settled people and have a normal and settled thinking (…) they manage to twist people's minds and make them change their perception and believe in false promises, in vain, as if they can bring prosperity, prosperity and peace. Not true. I saw here people with a lot of knowledge about history, facts, and political theory. We will have to be as active as possible and talk to people everywhere, at any kind of event, on the street, in the shop or in the market about this danger.

We have to assume this, because, regardless of whether we are talking about the center-right or the center-left, they still have a common ground, they have the balance medians, that is, they are in the center. In difficult and complicated times we need this balance. We need that thinking through which we realize what could be the consequences, the effects of our action or inaction“, emphasized Ciucă.

The motivation behind the PNL-PSD coalition

Regarding the motives of the PNL-PSD governing coalition, the leader of the liberals said that: “We wanted to go in balance in an economic, security, regional and international situation. In a situation where inflation, the crisis of supply chains, the energy crisis were the only things we could not afford regardless of the political party we belonged to regardless of our doctrine, ideology and creed regarding how we can do politics .

At the same time, the PNL leader stated that in the context of regional and international factors “which got complicated”, PNL chose to go on a joint list with PSD in the European parliamentary elections.

The PNL president said that he knows that it was not easy for the first vice-president Rareş Bogdan, who is also in Chisinau, to accept the coalition with the PSD.

I know it's not easy for Mr. It is rare for Bogdan to be on the list of those he criticized in all his activity as a journalist, but you know how it is in life, intelligent and patriotic people have that minimum availability for a minimum sacrifice of pride, for the good of the country, not for the personal good “, mentioned Ciucă.

Ciucă: When Romania is stable, the Republic of Moldova is stable

The President of the Senate stated that Romania supports the Republic of Moldova in its projects.

“And we have thought about this and we are still thinking about it, because when Romania has a country project for itself, it also has a project for the Republic of Moldova. When Romania is stable, the Republic of Moldova is stable, I said when we help Romania, we help the Republic of Moldova, and when we help the Republic of Moldova, we help Romania. It is true, we have worked and we will work with the state institutions of the Republic of Moldova, with the president, the prime minister, the president of the Parliament, with all the institutions of the village to be able to help and support.

Anyone in my position as prime minister would have made the same decisions. The Republic of Moldova needed to overcome a critical situation, I thank my government colleagues and all those who got involved so that in very short periods of time we could change the legislation and take concrete measures as the citizens of the Republic of Moldova not to suffer. We have done and we will do all these things because this is what our forefathers asked us, those who 106 years ago assumed the historical responsibility of uniting the Republic of Moldova with the country, those who throughout their lives, as they said, had a only ideal, to be able to cross the Prut even on a bridge made of pontoons like the one in Bumbata, Leova, yes to cross it freely without any kind of barrier”, mentioned Ciucă.

The President of the PNL listed some of our country's initiatives, which came in support of the neighboring country.

“We have the duty to support this path of the Republic of Moldova, and what I can tell you are a few figures. At this moment, the Republic of Moldova has benefited from a support of 1.2 billion euros, money that came from the EU. Romania came with that support package of 100,000 million euros, money that can be found in the projects that can be found in particular in that program called the European Village. But that's not all. Romania became the largest investor in the Republic of Moldova, 400,000 million euros. Romania is the main economic partner of the Republic of Moldova Nicolae Ciucă also said.
