The scandal took place in the street, in Belciugatele commune. The campaign teams of the two parties filmed themselves threatening, cursing and insulting each other.
In the scandal, on the one hand, the current mayor, Mihai Gurlui, his brother, who holds the position of vice mayor, and the supporters of the two, from the PSD, were involved. In the opposite camp were the PNL candidate, Fanel Dinu, former policeman and station chief, a teacher and PNL supporters.
“Policemen from the Fundulea City Police were alerted, by calling 112, by a 43-year-old man from Belciugatele commune, regarding the fact that he was physically assaulted by a civil servant. Following the first investigations carried out, the police found out that, around 17:00, in the village of Măriuţa, in the commune of Belciugatele, the supporters of two political parties had met. The appellant, while receiving medical help, claimed that, around 5:20 p.m., while he was stationed at an intersection, amid adversarial discussions, he was physically assaulted by a young man, 29 years old, and two men, one 56 years old, civil servant and the other, 61 years old, his brother. The latter, being part of a different political party than the injured person. At the same time, the assaulted man was transported to the hospital, in order to receive medical care”the Calarasi Police announced.

The PSD camp was led by the mayor of the commune, Mihai Gurlui, who is at the end of his third mandate and who is now his brother. The mayor and his brother, Gabriel Gurlui, are among those accused of aggression. Mayor Mihai Gurlui, however, rejects all the accusations.
“The PNL team, led by one individual, is still trying to intimidate and challenge the PSD team. They announced yesterday that they were carrying out electoral campaign actions in Belciugatele and we then agreed to go to a neighboring village, in Mariuta. They came after us, in Mariuta, to challenge us. The videos posted on Facebook are, I think, edifying. The culprit is the campaign staff, the PNL candidate and the capo di tutti is a lady, who claims to be a lady, but she is not, Mariana Anghel”the mayor told News.ro.
