CNN included Romania among the best places to visit in 2025. “It’s a gift. A country that has everything”

CNN describes Romania as “a gift” in these days of over-tourism. Our country is included in the 25 best places to visit in 2025, alongside exotic destinations in Asia, Latin America, Africa or Europe.

At the end of last year, “Vogue” magazine also opened its list of ten best places to visit in 2025 with Romania.

Now it’s CNN’s turn to compile a list of 25 destinations worth visiting this year, and Romania is among them.

Our team has compiled this list of 25 destinations that we think are especially worth visiting in 2025” – says CNN in the preamble of the list.

And Romania is described by them as “a gift“, being a country “which has everything“.

“There are not many places left in Europe that still have that undiscovered vibe, but Romania is among them. It’s a godsend in these days of over-tourism – because here’s a country that has everything from Black Sea spas to the extraordinary beauty of the Carpathian Mountains, and which seems to be trying to increase its visitor numbers sustainably,” CNN journalists write.

They list some of the places that must be visited in Romania,

“Yes, there is Dracula at Bran Castle, but for other medieval Gothic delights in Transylvania and beyond, try Timisoara, Cluj Napoca, Sibiu, Brasov and Sebeş. The capital Bucharest has a charming Old Town, now a bit overcrowded with touristy bars and restaurants, but the city’s recent history is still a major attraction. The impressive excess of the former luxurious home of communist dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu and its vast Palace of Parliament (the heaviest building in the world) are worth exploring. These contrast with the extreme hardships he imposed on the country’s population, described in the small but essential Museum of Communism.

A more idyllic past can still be found in the Romanian countryside. There is probably no better way to explore this than the recently launched Via Transilvanica, a 1,400 kilometer hiking route through rural landscapes and villages that seem frozen in time.”

Apart from Romania, the CNN list also includes: Almaty – Kazakhstan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands – India, Bequia Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the Caribbean, Bolivia, Chemnitz – Germany, English Countryside Footpaths, Eswatini and Mpumalanga Province – South Africa, Gdańsk – Poland, Gilgit-Baltistan – Pakistan, Italian Trains, Kaçkar Mountains – Turkey, Kansai – Japan , Mendoza – Argentina, Nashville – Tennessee, Niue Island – Polynesia, Nuuk – Greenland, Ozarks – USA, Rabat – Morocco, San Francisco de Campeche – Mexico, Sierra Leone, Stockholm – Sweden, Taupō – New Zealand, Vancouver Island – Canada and Vermont Rail Trails.
