The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has initiated the recruitment process for electoral experts for the presidential and parliamentary elections that will take place at the end of this year. Those who meet the selection criteria and are appointed president or deputy of the electoral office in a polling station will benefit from an allowance of 4,270 lei.
Allowance for the president of the polling station
The recruitment process involves an assessment stage, during which candidates’ skills and knowledge in electoral matters will be tested. Those who achieve the required scores will have the chance to become electoral experts in this year’s elections.
To become an electoral expert, you must follow four simple steps.
1. Download the admission application from the AEP website.
2. Complete the application with the data from the identity document, date it, sign the holograph and attach the requested documents (diploma of the most recently completed studies, copy of the identity document, confidentiality statement)
3. Scan or photograph and send by e-mail to [email protected] the application accompanied by the requested documents or submit them personally to AEP
4. Take the exam, pass and, after being issued in the Body of Electoral Experts, you are an electoral expert
Admission to the Corps of electoral experts can be achieved either on the basis of a favorable opinion issued by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) for the previous activity as president or deputy of the electoral office of the polling station, or by taking an online exam.
330 lei/day is the allowance of the president of a polling station
The persons who fulfill the role of president or deputy in the electoral offices of the polling stations receive an allowance of 330 lei per day of activity, which also includes the training period. For this allowance, only income tax is withheld, according to the legal provisions.
How many days are paid in the 2024 presidential election
The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has illustrated how the allowance is calculated. Thus, for a maximum of 13 days of payment, the calculation is: 13 days x 330 lei = 4,290 lei, from which the 10% income tax (429 lei) is deducted, resulting in 3,861 lei. A protocol allowance of 35 lei per day x 13 days = 455 lei is added to this amount, from which the income tax (45.5 lei) is deducted, resulting in 409.5 lei. Therefore, the total amounts to 4,270.5 lei.
AEP points out that the refusal of the presidents of the electoral offices or the deputies to participate in the training will lead to a 50% reduction of the allowance.
Presidential elections are scheduled for November 24, 2024 (first round) and December 8, 2024 (second round), while parliamentary elections will take place on December 1, 2024.
Interested persons are encouraged to visit the official website of AEP for detailed information about the recruitment process.
