Cornelia and Miodrag Belodedici offered their first interview together, speaking openly about their family life, career and memories, stressing that they value intimacy above anything.

“This is our first appearance in the press and probably the only one ”said, in Unison, Cornelia and Miodrag Belodedici, exclusively for OK! Romania. The former great footballer, the only Romanian who won the European Champions Cup twice, is known for his discretion and modesty, and his wife resembles them.
Their marriage was an intimate event, known only to the very close ones. “Our marriage, when it took place, was a very intimate event and then they knew only the very close ones. Anyway, didn’t change much, we were still”, Confessed Cornelia Belodedici.
Life next to a champion
Although he is one of the most titled Romanian footballers, Miodrag Belodedici does not talk about football. “Home doesn’t talk about football. In various circles of friends, however, it becomes a fabulous storyteller. His life is an extraordinary story“Says Cornelia.
For his part, Miodrag recognizes that he is often stopped on the street by supporters. “I am always stopped on the street, wherever I go. And in the holidays in Europe there are also Romanian who recognize me and stop for a picture and an autograph. I always tell them that for the dynamovists it costs 10 lei a picture and 5 lei the autograph. (laughs) I’m kidding, to see how they react”.
Career and unforgettable memories
Belodedici remembers his beginnings with emotion. “A moment that remained in my soul is the one from 16, when I was selected in the village football team. I scored two goals and at the end they took me on my shoulders and took me directly to the village. They forced me to drink a small glass of vermouth with water-a kind of maturation baptism. I think with more emotion of this incident than to win other trophies”.
Asked what is the biggest career achievement, the former defender replied simply: “For me, the greatest achievement remains that I played for the national team of Romania ”.
A discreet love story
The Belodedic spouses have known each other for many years, but have been found and have joined. “We have been together for many years and I think what binds us most is that we admire each other. I don’t know if there are mate souls, but I think there are people who are doomed to be together when they need to”, Confessed Cornelia.
For them, discretion and intimacy are essential. “The main thing the world should know about us is that we are very discreet and we do not like ostentation. The intimacy of the couple’s life is essential“She added.
Holidays and family life
Even though they have visited spectacular destinations, Belodedici always prefers to return to Banat, near the Danube. “For him, the ideal vacation is in the sochol, in the native village, on the bank of Nerei, or somewhere near the Danube. When he sees the Danube he is transfigured: the pulse is faster, and he is only emotion“Says Cornelia.
In turn, Miodrag dreams of a special holiday: “I would love to organize a leave in which to go along the Danube, from the spring to close to the spill”.
