The holder of the Romanian Cup managed to qualify after winning the first leg with a score of 4-0. Veterans Norbert Konyves (79) and Daniel Bode (90) scored the goals of Hungary’s vice-champion in Sibiu.

Paks started the match offensively and had several balls sent inaccurately to Lefter’s goal, through Hahn (2) and Otvos (3). Corvinul countered with Lica’s (5) header, just over the goal, following a corner, and Iacob’s (10), which went just wide of the target. Neacşa (19) shot into the side net from outside the box. The Hunedorens were close to an own goal through Manolache, but Lefter rejected (22).

The guests managed to score (28), through Konyves, on the counterattack, after a chain of blunders in the defense of Corvinu, but the goal was canceled by VAR for a millimeter offside. Each team had one more opportunity until the break, the Hungarians through Mezei (32), and the Corvinul through Pîrvulescu (38).

In the second half, the holder of the Hungarian Cup was even more incisive, but Lefter (51) rejected the corner effectively executed by Mezei. Bode (70) shot wide of the goal from a distance. In the 78th minute, the guests missed three opportunities in the same phase, after a corner, Lefter rejecting the ball sent by Szabo, after which Neacşa blocked Bode’s restart, and Lefter again intervened to save Silye. Paks remained on the attack and managed to score, through Konyves (79), with a shot from the edge of the box, deflected by Hrezdac. Paks also scored the second goal, through Bode (90), with a header from the small box, near Lica, after Papp’s cross.

Corvinul Hunedoara, second league team, will play in the second preliminary round of the Europa League with the Croatian team HNK Rijeka.
