Cosmin Olăroiu was officially announced by the Federation of United Arab Emirates as a national coach, instead of Portuguese Paulo Bento. The Arabs offered him a two-year contract.

The Romanian coach, who is in the second time in the position of selector, after leading the Saudi Arabia team for several months, has the mission to carry the national of the Emirates to the World Cup 2026. The objective is difficult to reach, but not impossible. The Arab team is ranked 3rd in the group, after Iran (already qualified) and Uzbekistan, two stages before the end of the group matches.
Debuts on June 5, against the main rival
Cosmin Olăroiu’s team has the possibility to overcome the Uzbeci, 4 points away, or to qualify through the next phase of the preliminaries, in which the formations ranked on 3 and 4 in groups reach. The Romanian coach will debut on the technical bench of the United Arab Emirates on June 5, at home, even against Uzbekistan, and five days later the team will play with Karzstan.
Cosmin Olăroiu is one of the most successful coaches in the Gulf area, being the most titled Emirate technician. The Romanian won 14 trophies, with Al Ain, Al Ahli Dubai and Sharjah, since he was active in the small state in the Persian Bay area. Oli also won trophies outside this country, in total with 22 titles with 9 different bands.
Cosmin Olăroiu, paid to reign
The 55 -year -old technician, who qualified the last days on Sharjah in the final of the Asia 2 Champions League, will replace the Portuguese Paulo Bento, resigned last month after a victory in front of North Korea, in the preliminaries of the 2026 World Cup.
So far no information has appeared about the salary offered by the Federation in the United Arab Emirates, but it is probably around 5 million euros per year, considering that Olăroiu earns this amount to the club band.
