Left back Nicuşor Bancu has extended his contract with the football club Universitatea Craiova until 2028, the group from Bănie announced on its Facebook page on Thursday.
“Good news just before the derby with CFR! Nicusor Bancu, our captain, continues to be the main character in the blue-white story that began in July 2014. The oldest component of the University of Craiova has extended his contract until 2028, with the desire to become a Champion alongside Science!”it is stated in the club’s press release.

His previous commitment expired in the summer of 2025, and from January Bancu, 32, could sign a free contract with any team.
Bancu won two Romanian Cups and a Romanian Supercup with the University. The University captain collected 366 appearances in the blue-white shirt and scored 30 goals.
Bancu is also the holder of the position of left back in the national team, where he has collected 43 selections and 2 goals, being the only player from the Super League starting in EURO 2024.
