CSM Bucharest misses the qualification at the final tournament of the Champions League. Cristina Neagu, the last career match at international level

CSM Bucharest was defeated on Sunday by Esbjerg, with a score of 26-22, in the return of Denmark, and missed the chance to qualify for the Final Four of the Champions League for women’s handball.

The “Tigroaicele” had a qualification score when there were five minutes from the game, but they crashed. Thus, Cristina Neagu played the last international career match. She announced her withdrawal at the end of the season.

CSM Bucharest had won in the tour of a single goal, with 30-29, so our team missed the qualification.

The “Tigroaicele” started the match in Denmark quite well, leading 8-6, 9-7 and 10-8, but at the break the hosts had two goals, 14-12. CSM Bucharest managed to return to the advantage after the break, 18-17 (min. 39), but the Danish scored three consecutive goals.

The team from Bucharest equalized at 22 when there were 5 minutes, but from that moment there was only one team on the field. The hosts broke off and won the match at four different goals, (26-22), obtaining qualification.

The best scorers of the match were Henny Reistad and Crina Pintea, each with 6 goals. At the SCM, Elisabeth Homogie (5 goals) and Cristina Neagu (4 goals) were also noticed.

This was the last match of the career for Cristina Neagu in the Champions League, a competition he won in 2015, in Buducnost’s shirt.

ESBJERG is the last team qualified finally 4 in Budapest, after Gyor, Metz and Odense. The semifinals will take place on May 31, and the final on June 1.
