CSM Bucharest will face the French team Metz Handball in the semi-finals of the Champions League for women’s handball, according to the draw made on Monday in Vienna, the city that hosts the headquarters of the European Handball Federation.
CSM Bucharest, the 2016 trophy winners, qualified for the Final4 tournament in Budapest after an eight-year hiatus, managing to eliminate the Danish team Team Esbjerg.
The first leg of the quarters was won by the Danish team with 26-25, but CSMB clearly prevailed in the Multipurpose Hall in the capital, with 37-27, in Sunday’s game.
Metz Handball passed FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria, after 31-31 in Budapest and 31-28 at home.
In the other semifinal of the competition, Brest Bretagne Handball, who eliminated Gloria Bistrita, will meet Gyori Audi ETO KC, the trophy holder. The Hungarian team qualified for the EHF Final4 tournament for the tenth time in a row.
In the same period and in the same arena, the first final tournament of the Champions League for juniors, EHF Youth Club Trophy 2026, will also take place, for which CSM Bucharest is also qualified, which will face Gyori ETO KC in the semi-final. The other semi-final will pit Hungarian teams Ferencvaros and DVSC Kezilabda Akademia.
