One of these destinations is Pescara, a city located in the Abruzzo region of Italy, on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in the central-eastern part of the country. The capital of the province of Pescara and one of the most important cities in Abruzzo Italy, it is known for its wide and beautiful beaches, making it a popular seaside destination for Italians.

A Romanian tourist shared on one of the Facebook groups dedicated to those who plan their own vacations that she paid only 180 lei for air transport and related the special experiences she enjoyed in a surprising city-break on the Adriatic coast in the middle autumn.

Getaway in Pescara Abruzzo: beach, castles, views and local cuisine at low prices

I just got back from a City Break in Pescara and I want to share my experience and recommend this one destinationwhich is very affordable (in terms of airfare/transportation/budget)”reads the Facebook post.

The author mentioned the extremely low budget allocated for this adventure, in which the beach was combined with the visit of impressive castles and culinary indulgence, each meal offering the opportunity to enjoy authentic local dishes: “The ticket price for this tourist destination is very low; I personally paid 180 lei for a weekend from Friday to Sunday. The airport is very small, with two or three shops and a few flights (I didn’t have any delays), and by bus you get to the center super fast, in about 15-20 minutes”.

As for meals, dinner was 30 euros, of which 28.90 euros for the menu and 1.90 euros for water, and lunch was 20 euros in restaurants that offered unlimited food. Breakfast was included in the accommodation.

The accommodation was chosen based on the location, close to the train station and the beach, at a three-star hotel, which he mentioned in the comments, without specifying the price. However, according to the information found on Booking, the rate for a double room at the chosen hotel starts from 166 euros per night on weekends, and the most advantageous options are rooms for three and four people, which start from 199 euros per night.

“Basically, it’s good to stay anywhere near Pescara Centrale (central train station) and Pescara Porta Nova… I walked in 10-12 minutes to the train station/beach. The hotel also offers a very good breakfast, not extremely varied, but sufficient”mentioned the author of the post in response to one of the questions asked by internet users.

The hidden treasure of the Adriatic Coast: a fusion of beach and history

Regarding the destination and how he discovered it, the tourist said:
“Pescara is a small town that, at first glance, may seem less interesting and not very well known. Personally, I did not find much information about him in this group, and on other networks there is very little. My friend discovered this destination by chance while looking for cheap tickets to Italy (because he loves the sea and “all you can eat” restaurants), and I liked it so much that I decided to come with my coworkers. It was the perfect weather for walking through the streets and even for sitting on the beach.”

On the first day, he dedicated time to the beach, but also to enjoying the famous Italian coffee, choosing to serve dinner at an “All you can eat” (Shabu Shabu) restaurant, about which he completed the post with suggestive photos. “For me the water was cold, but there were also people swimming in the sea”said the Romanian woman, referring to the temperature of the sea water during this period.

The next day, he visited another small town on the Adriatic Coast: “I went to Ortona. I took the train from Pescara Centrale, which cost exactly 3.40 euros for a single trip. The journey took 20 minutes, and from the train station to the blue water we only walked five minutes. In this way, we also discovered the way to a very old castle, dating from the 14th century”.

Useful suggestions for a dream getaway in Abruzzo

The author of the post also offered some helpful suggestions: “I recommend wearing comfortable shoes as there are a lot of stairs to go up and down; I’m still feeling the effects of muscle fever. After visiting the castle, which is free, we set off in search of a restaurant. We found quite a few closed and it took a while to find something open, but we were lucky as we were served by a Romanian from Neamț who was equally surprised that we were tourists. The view from the Aragonese Castle is absolutely spectacular, something special, and I want to come back as soon as possible. For weather information, I recommend using Google; I’ve had good weather every time I’ve visited, between May and October.”

Netizens who know the area also suggested visiting San Benedetto, as well as renting a car to explore the entire province of Abruzzo: “It’s extremely picturesque, that’s all coastal area (for example, Vasto is a very nice little town), as well as the mountain area”.
