Dangerous Trending Video on TikTok. Dozens of children and teenagers have arrived at the hospital in the last few days. Doctor: “Probably not peaked”

A particularly dangerous challenge is spreading rapidly on TikTok, draws the attention of doctor Alexandru Ulici, manager of the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital in the Capital. Dozens of children and teenagers have arrived at the hospital, and “probably the peak has not been reached”, warns the doctor.

The doctor Alexandru Ulici warned, on Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024, in a live intervention on Antena 3 CNN, that following a challenge on TikTok dozens of children and adolescents ended up in the guard room of the “Grigore Alexandrescu” Hospital in Bucharest, two going into the operating room today. It is about the “flight of Superman” in which the children are engaged. Specifically, one member of the group simulates the “flying” movement of the mentioned character, and two other children are prepared to support him. This “flight” takes place several times, until the daredevil is dropped by the other two, and as a result of the fall, the children suffer various traumas and even fractures.

This phenomenon started on Friday, with several presentations. It seemed something trivial at first, but the number of cases increased progressively, so that yesterday, during the guard, at least 20 patients presented with fractures and traumas after this challenge, which I understood to be something like this,” warned the doctor.

In most cases, doctors found forearm fractures and humerus fractures, the doctor said. “Right now we have two inpatients who are going to have surgery today for these abscesses, but the number is quite high. They are school children, basically over 10 years old. At first they were only from Bucharest, but later they started appearing from neighboring areas and from other counties. It seems that this phenomenon is spreading and we are calling on the media to help us draw attention to the danger of this attempt.” the doctor Alexandru Ulici also said.

The children told the doctors how they got to the hospital. “They are filming, they have the videos on their phone, we couldn’t believe it when we saw those videos. We, at “Grigore Alexandrescu”, consult between 250 and 300 patients every day, it’s a very, very large number, and you realize that it’s quite frustrating when we see that under these conditions, seemingly common sense things, that shouldn’t happen, yet it does”the doctor added, emphasizing that 10% of the total presentations were cases of children falling prey to such challenges.

It’s even worse, warned Dr. Streets, the fact that “probably not peaked”.
