Daniel David does not rule out leaving the Ministry of Education next year and admits that there are discussions during this period. The Minister of Education says that he does not have and does not aim for a political career.
The Minister of Education was asked on TVR Info if he is thinking of leaving office in 2026 or if he will stay with Prime Minister Bolojan until the head of the Government ends his mandate, according to the coalition agreement.
“I tell you honestly, I came with a horizon of a few months until May, when the presidential institution had to be established and the country stabilized. From May, I came with the idea that I would stay until school started, to help the country pass through the international evaluations, that it looked very bad for a minister of the largest budgetary system to leave, and I didn’t know how school would start after the fiscal-budgetary measures. After that, the idea was that I would stay until the European Commission does the global evaluation and they will tell us that things are ok, European funds are not blocked and the country is stable”answered Daniel David.
“I think I made my contribution”
The Minister of Education stated that he is not aiming for a political career, but says that he should be a minister who will work on the budget next year.
“I don’t have and I’m not aiming for a political career. I think I’ve made my contribution and I’ve kept postponing my departure many times. There are discussions, I’m sure there are discussions in this period as well because I have this feeling that there should be a minister who will work on the budget for next year. Because if I work on the budget for next year, I should assume the continuation of my mandate. It’s not right to get hired, make a budget for one year and then take things and go. So I can’t answer that question right now, but you’re right it’s something I’m thinking about these days.”
