During the first debate on framework plan projects for high school education, which takes place at the National University of Science and Technology Polytechnic Bucharest, the Minister of Education has made an analysis of the problems that all the factors involved in the educational process are facing.
Daniel David says that the purpose of discussions is that education does not become “a risk” for the nation, as it indicates at the moment, but an opportunity.
“I think we all have a purpose and that purpose is to make sure that education does not become a risk to the nation, but to become an opportunity. (…) To be honest, I did not feel very comfortable that at the beginning of the mandate I have to start with the discussion about the framework plans. Everyone knows it’s a moment of scandal. (…) Curricular pressure. We all know it. We have textbooks since 2004, content since 2004. The last cry would have been 2021. Then we had to do this. Two: legal pressure. The law obliges us Let’s rethink the framework plans and in connection with the baccalaureate and other changes that have appeared there. Three: I may say something hard, but we all know that it is at least a drama of truth, even those who do not agree with the things I present. “ explained Daniel David what are the pressure factors.
“Education, national security risk”
Another underlined idea was that the students should not be transformed into “hammocks”, through an extremely loaded curriculum, despite the fact that the statistics on scientific literacy indicate that education is, at the moment, “risk of national security ”.
“Let’s not turn Children in hammocks to carry courses over courses, hours over hours, disciplines over disciplines. It is very important and this is an argument for me morally, psychologically. We all know that the scientific literacy area does not look good in the country. (…) Therefore, you know that I have been thinking many times until I said, it is not too easy when a minister speaks of national security risk for a domain. It’s an important thing. I stayed and thought a lot if to say this in the public space, but when I saw the last analyzes related to cash, high school alliteration, when I saw the skills of adults … it is a national security risk, we can no longer Continue like that ”, he warned.
The Ministry of Education and Research is open to suggestions and does not claim that the framework plans will remain in the initially proposed form, Daniel David has also emphasized, notes Agerpres.
“We came up with some proposals. Since I presented them in the public space I said very clearly that I did not claim that they must remain as they were proposed. This is a variant we thought about. A variant in which we tried to find a balance between sciences, religion, national identity, skills for life, complicated things. It is very difficult to keep a balance between these areas and I said that through debates I hope to reach a variant ”, the minister showed.
As the framework plans target not only the students, but also the teachers and parents, Daniel David said that they will be approved if there is a “widely embraced” variant by all the factors involved in the educational process.
“Only in this form will I let it, if it is a widely embraced variant. I said that it is primarily for students, but it is at the same time for teachers, because you can not do school without teachers, and at the same time for parents and society. That is why these days of debate I learned many things, I learned about the problems in the socio-human area on the technological chain, I learned about the perspective of the historians related to the study of history. (…) The attitude must be one to come, to define the problem, to propose solutions, and the ministry, as it has been employed, will come up with models that work better ”, the Minister of Education and Research said.
