The government has decided to expand the “Healthy Mass” program to over 500,000 beneficiaries. The Minister of Education, Daniel David, said in this regard that the decision was taken to combat school dropout.

The target, according to the minister, is that, in 2029, all students will enter this program. “It is an important program, I think it is the first decision initiated by the Ministry of Education. I can actually see it as a fundamental mechanism, not only from a social point of view, I see it as a psycho-educational mechanism because we have a major problem related to school dropout, and all specialized studies show that this social component also has A fundamnetal role in preventing and combating school dropout ”said Daniel David.

The minister announced that the target is that, in 2029, the healthy meal program for all primary beneficiaries can be offered. “For now, we go with this number you have heard, over 500,000 beneficiaries. Soon we will come up with another HG to detail the territorial administrative units and the school units that will benefit from this program. But the idea is to continue in those units we had last year ”, said the minister.

According to the Ministry of Education, this program aims to promote healthy eating habits among children and young people from schools in Romania, thus supporting their participation in education: “PNMS aims to create motivation for study, maintain socio-emotional balance and strengthen students’ well-being, contributing to reducing long-term school dropout. The program achieves these objectives by providing a nutritional and balanced meal in schools ”.

The “national program – healthy meal” is addressed to preschoolers and students present at the didactic activities, during the courses, according to the structure of the school year and consists in the daily granting, for free, of a food support consisting of a hot meal or, as the case may be, In a food package, if the hot meal cannot be assured.
