The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Cătălin Predoiu, sent a clear message by which the Government’s Directorate reaffirms: maintaining the political unit, overcoming the censorship motions and continuing the economic development policies.
“Dear friends. I say clear here what I said in front of the PNL seniors, what we discussed with the prime minister: we remain united, we go over the censorship motions and continue with Romania’s development policies. The next steps must be focused on GDP growth. How? By stimulating investments, production and jobs.
Our problem is not only the deficit itself, but its weight in GDP. That is why we must act on both levels: we correct the deficits (we cut the unjustified expenses) and accelerate the economy (investments, production, new economic projects).
Romania went too much on a single engine: consumption. It is also important to maintain it, but without sufficient production capacities and without goods or services done here, in the country, the commercial balance is unbalanced and other deficits appear. We must restart the classic production engine, through investments with local capital, but also foreign investments ” Predoiu wrote on Facebook.
Predoiu emphasizes the importance of investments, production and jobs for GDP growth and highlights the connection between economic development and national security.

“This approach also has an essential security dimension. We see a global repositioning, with increased US attention to the Asia-Pacific area, which means that Europe has to strengthen its own defense pillar, which involves a large effort. In this context, the direct American investments in Romania mean security: Direct in us creates jobs, increases GDP and indirectly strengthens national safety.
