The interim Minister of Education, Mihai Dimian, announces on Tuesday that he has signed the Minister’s Order regarding the approval of the tests and subjects of the national baccalaureate exam 2030, for students starting in 2026 the 9th grade and which introduces the differentiated Baccalaureate, adapted to the specialization and choice of the students.

“The Minister’s order regarding the approval of the tests and subjects of the national baccalaureate exam 2030, for students who start the 9th grade in 2026, has been sent for publication in the Official Gazette. The order approves the list of tests and subjects of the national baccalaureate exam starting in 2030, in accordance with the provisions of the Pre-University Education Law No. 198/2023, for the first generation of graduates who will complete their high school studies based on the new framework plans and approved school programs starting with the 2026-2027 school year”writes the interim Minister of Education, on Facebook.

Mihai Dimian points out that the need to approve this order derives from the application of the provisions of the Pre-University Education Law no. 198/2023 regarding the structure of the national baccalaureate exam, the need to establish in a predictable and transparent manner the tests and exam subjects, correlated with the new framework plans for high school education and with the specifics of the streams, profiles, specializations and professional qualifications.

At the same time, it is considered ensuring the coherence between the curriculum followed by students and the final assessment of the skills acquired at the end of high school education, clarifying the reporting of exam programs to the common core curriculum segments and the specialized curriculum, in accordance with the new curriculum architecture, ensuring an adequate interval for informing students, teaching staff and educational units about the structure of the national baccalaureate exam – 2030.

Tests and subjects associated with the national baccalaureate exam

The annex to the order details the tests and subjects associated with the national baccalaureate exam starting in 2030 for all streams, profiles, specializations and professional qualifications in high school education, including:

• language and digital skills assessment tests;

• common written tests, mandatory or optional;

• differentiated tests specific to the profile, specialization or professional qualification;

• the subjects of choice for test F, targeting basic skills, in accordance with the structure provided by the Pre-University Education Law no. 198/2023.

The Minister presents the samples of the baccalaureate exam 2030 and the prescribed disciplines, according to the Pre-university Education Law no. 198/2023:

• test for evaluating communication skills in Romanian (test A01, all profiles, all specializations) – the test still exists today;

• test for evaluating communication skills in the mother tongue (test A02, minorities) – the test still exists today;

• language skills evaluation test in two modern languages ​​(test B) – currently the skills in one modern language are evaluated;

• digital skills evaluation test (test C) – the test still exists today.

Written tests:

• Romanian language and literature, test A1/A2/A3 (common (A1), with the exception of: the humanities profile, philology specialization (A2), respectively minorities (A3) – the test still exists today;

• native language and literature (test D, minorities) – the test still exists today;

• two differentiated mandatory written tests (test E), as follows:

the first sample – the theoretical branch:

– for the mathematics-informatics specialization – mathematics;

– for the specialization in natural sciences – test to choose between physics, chemistry and biology;

– for the social sciences – history specialization;

– for the philology specialization – the language and literature of a language of international circulation;

first test – technological branch: test specific to the field of training;

the first test – vocational stream: one of the specialized disciplines;

(In the current structure of the baccalaureate, this first differentiated mandatory test is the mandatory profile test, mathematics or history.)

the second test – the theoretical branch:

– for the mathematics-informatics specialization – a discipline of your choice between computer science, physics, chemistry, biology;

– for the natural sciences specialization – a discipline of your choice between physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science;

– for the social sciences specialization – a discipline of your choice between geography, socio-humanities, religion;

– for the philology specialization – a discipline of choice between history, geography, socio-human subjects, religion;

the second test – the technological branch: a discipline relevant to the real profile;

the second test – vocational stream: a discipline relevant to the predominant profile of the specialization;

(In the current structure of the baccalaureate, this second differentiated compulsory test is the optional test.)

• a written test to evaluate basic skills (test F), at your choice:

for the real profile: a discipline of choice between history, geography, socio-human subjects, religion

for the humanities profile: a subject of your choice between mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology

for the technological sector – one of the disciplines from the real/human profile, complementary to the disciplines chosen in the E test

for the vocational stream – one of the disciplines from the real/human profile, complementary to the disciplines chosen in the E test

(This test does not exist in the current baccalaureate structure and is a complementary test to the profile.)

The interim Minister of Education mentions that “the tests for the assessment of linguistic skills in two modern languages ​​(test B), the test for the assessment of digital skills (test C) and the test for the assessment of basic skills (test F) are scheduled to take place during the school year (according to the provisions of Law no. 198/2023)”.

Considering the legal regulations, I specify that any modification of the tests / subjects of the national baccalaureate exam 2030 implies the modification, in advance, of the Pre-University Education Law no. 198, approved by the Romanian Parliament in 2023″says the minister.
