The budget for the flowers that students bring to their teachers at the beginning of the school year starts with 10 lei per string and goes up to 300 lei for more complex bouquets. A teacher from Cluj found an elegant solution to avoid parents’ competition for the most extravagant bouquet of flowers.

Do we bring flowers to teachers at the beginning of the school year or not? It’s the dilemma debated year after year around the day students return to school after a long summer vacation.
Some parents think like Florina: “The stupidity that persists from his childhood, how can a child without flowers go to the teacher, teacher that it’s not fair if your child is not the same as the others (With flowers in hand). ….sad“.
Others, like Mircea, believe that “There is nothing wrong with giving a flower to a teacher, not with the premise that it will be an advantage or a bonus, but just because you appreciate the work done or show your gratitude towards him/her. Do what she/he wants with the flowers afterwards…let’s not be “haters”…I say…“.
On the other hand, there is also Simona’s perspective:
“I have a neighbor who is a teacher. At the beginning of each school year, he comes home with armfuls of flowers, which he doesn’t know what to do with. With the flowers, not the arms.
Sometimes she also distributes bouquets to neighbors, leaves them around the yard, it’s a real pain in the ass to find places to store so many flowers. How can you say that she would like it better if no one broke the flowers for her.
I’m telling you, maybe you’re going to swell the queues at the florists tomorrow morning.”

The elegant solution found by a teacher from Cluj
The biggest problem is the one noted by Alexia – namely that there is a competition between parents to bring the biggest bouquet:
“Nowadays everyone is competing and no one brings a simple bouquet of 5 tulips or wildflowers anymore. Through this apparently simple gesture of giving flowers, you create a competition between which teachers receive flowers or not, and which parent/child brings the most beautiful bouquet”.
The teacher of a school in Cluj managed to find a solution that reconciles “both the goat and the cabbage”. He forbade his parents to bring him extravagant bouquets of flowers, telling them that he would not receive them. Instead, he allowed them, if they wanted, to buy one flower for each student, the same type of flower, so that no one would be bothered that the neighbor brought a prettier flower. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t parents who want to be “cooler”, but slowly they will understand that an extravagant bouquet of flowers does not ensure special treatment from the teacher towards your child.
How much do flowers for teachers cost?
Florists are competing with social media ads and special offers for students who want to bring flowers to their teachers at the start of the school year. You can buy flowers online, from the market, from florists and even from supermarket chains.
Prices are for all budgets: 10 lei for gerbera thread, 12 lei 15 lei for rose thread. The cheapest bouquet of flowers can be bought from the supermarket – 5 roses – for 19.99 lei. Prices reach up to 300 lei, depending on the size and composition.
