Dog messed up on cross-country ski run at Olympics: ‘It was the weirdest thing that’s ever happened’

A dog sprinted today on the cross-country ski run at Lago di Tesero. It happened during the qualifications for the women’s Nordic skiing sprint event, informs ansa.it.

During qualifying for the women’s cross-country sprint relay, the final Nordic team event of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, hosted in Val di Fiemme, a husky “participated” in the final meters before the finish line.

It was the weirdest thing that ever happened”, reacted Giovanni Plano, 54 years old, the head of Olympic operations of Trentino, the general manager of the event.

Born in Varese, Plano also oversees events at the Predazzo ski slope. “I usually watch the races from the jury room because that way we are in direct contact with the medical team in case we need to intervene“, the official explains.

The alarm was extinguished almost immediately, as the wolf turned out to be, in fact, a husky dog: “It belonged to a resident who was walking and ran away. I grabbed it and before long the owner came to pick it up“explains the event manager. FIS immediately shared the story on one of its social media channels.
