The earthquake occurred on Friday evening, August 30, 2024, at 22:12 and occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea, at a depth of 140 km.

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 46km W of Focsani, 63km E of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 72km N of Buzau, 78km E of Brasov, 91km S of Bacau, 97km SW of Barlad.

The strongest earthquake of 2024, of magnitude 4.3, also occurred in Vrancea county, on January 15, at a depth of 74 kilometers, and in 2023, on February 14, an earthquake of 5 occurred, 7 in Gorj county, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
