Earthquake with magnitude 3.4 in Vrancea county

A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 occurred on Monday, at 15:59, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea county, according to information published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 122.8 kilometers (km) near the following cities: 51 km west of Focşani, 60 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 65 km north of Buzău, 71 km east of Braşov and 91 km northeast from Ploiesti, according to Agerpres.

Since the beginning of January, 28 earthquakes have been recorded in Romania, with magnitudes between 2.1 and 4.3 on the Richter scale.

Last year, the strongest tectonic movement, of 5.7, took place on February 14, in Gorj county, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
