Eduard Novak, a new attack on Elisabeta Lipă, after blowing up Romanian sport: “Ridiculous, illegal and immoral”

The scandal of the premiers of the employees of the federations that contributed medals to the Olympic Games in Paris broke out after Eduard Novak, the former Minister of Sports, accused Elisabeta Lipă, his successor, of giving an accountant the sum of 162,000 euros, May much more than is provided for, for example, the champion David Popovici. Noting that the scandal could also be sparked by political interests, considering that both sides are involved in the elections at the end of this year, we present to you a new episode of this war.

Eduard Novak, the former head of the MTS, declared the other day that he was disgusted by the prizes proposed by FR Canotaj at COSR, and Elisabeta Lipă, the current head of the ANS, mocked him, reminding him that after the Olympic Games in Tokyo the same prize system was applied , in his mandate. At stake is a total prize of 8,750,000 euros, of which the greater part will go to rowing, both for the athletes who brought medals and for the employees.

“I have read, very carefully, the amazing statements of Mrs. Elisabeta Lipa. I noticed that, instead of discussing the situation at the National Sports Agency, Mrs. Lipă prefers to take the discussion to a sterile and devoid of substance area, a fact that obliges me to make the following clarifications: Mrs. Lipă, the substantive issue is represented in a non-transparent, immoral and borderline legal manner regarding the decision to award a reward of 160,000 euros to the accountant of the institution you lead. And, to better understand the situation I explain:

First, legal if it is transparent

a. according to the legislation in force, rewarding employees is legal provided that it is based on transparent criteria and not shrouded in mystery;

b. you stated that the amount of 160,000 euros would have been shared with the other employees of the FRC. So, the 160,000 euros did not reward the work of the accountant, but of other employees. Then why are those employees not mentioned?

c. accountant lady he was going to collect the money and share it with the other employees… is it legal??? Is that like saying you support the idea of the entire FRC salary pool going to person X who will in turn give every employee their due salary? Not only is it illegal and immoral, but it borders on the ridiculous!

Government decision, changed before the Olympics

d. major discrepancy between your statements and those of other FRC employees. On the one hand, you claim that the amount of 160,000 euros was not intended for a single person (the accountant!), on the other hand, other employees confirmed that the said amount was intended for the accountant. So who is telling the truth? You or the other people?

e. you know as well as I do that the HG you refer to has been changed by yourself a few months before the Olympics. What was the reason for this change? Probably to justify your approach that caused so many negative reactions in Romanian society.

(…) The substantive issue is related to the reasons why the accountant and the general secretary of the FRC ended up being rewarded with higher sums than the medal athletes? Your justifications according to which the 160,000 euros are given to a person who will share the money with the other employees is at least bizarre and raises many questions. Perhaps each FRC employee had their own contribution to achieving the performance of medal-winning athletes and should be rewarded. However, it was normal for each of them, transparently, to appear on the list and by no means to share the money with colleagues. Finally, can you look the medaled athletes in the eye and tell them that their performance is worth less than the work of the accountant and the general secretary of the FRC?”, was the message posted by Eduard Novak on his Facebook account.

Elisabeta Lipă: It was just a simulation

After the outbreak of the scandal, Elisabeta Lipă claimed that the prizes have not yet been awarded, and the amount that appears in the accountant’s right, for example, is not only for her, but for several employees. And, since it is a simulation, the head of ANS let it be understood that, in the final form, each employee will be entitled to the exact amount due to him. “Currently there is no approved amount, they are only in the basis of the project, of the analysis. They are submitted to the Olympic Committee, which checks them and when we have the final form, it is approved by the Executive Committee.

We currently do not have these premiums paid, they are only in the project phase, on paper. I think that no one can imagine that 160,000 euros enter the account of an accountant, it is just a simulation. A simulation of what this 40% means and after the final approval, all this money will go directly into the accounts of the employed staff. He can’t stay. 162,000 and with 162,000, there are 324,000 which means this 40% of the value of the performances achieved by Romanian rowing. Which will be divided for each individual employee”said Elisabeta Lipă, according to Agerpres.
