The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, said on Sunday that, during the visit to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Iași, where six children died in the last weeks in the ATI section, found that some hygiene and protection rules are not respected. Rogobete stated that he noticed employees who wore fake jewelry or nails, prohibited practices according to medical protocols for ATI staff.

“There are aspects that are found in the legislation but that are not respected and in Iasi I tell you for sure that they are not respected, because I have seen with my eyes. For example, the staff in ATI is not allowed to wear jewelry, bracelets, rings and all kinds of accessories; they must be left at the entrance to the ATI section. Intensive therapy, I saw them, I hope they understood the seriousness of the situation ”, said the minister at Antena 3.
Rogobete explained that the assistant chief, the head of the section and the epidemiologist are the ones who have to verify the implementation of the protocols.
“It is inadmissible what happened, but again, I would like to emphasize this, in order not to throw a black spot on the whole health system. I do not want to understand that in all the hospitals in Romania such phenomena are happening, I do not want to understand that all the doctors and all the medical staff hide or do not respect the protocols.” he said.
The minister also announced concrete measures: “I intend to hire epidemiological doctors, especially in large intensive care sections, but also nurses who have courses on monitoring and controlling intra -hospital infections. ”
Rogobete emphasized the importance of firm sanctions.
“I think that only if we sanction in time and firmly such habits can, in time, limit the phenomenon. The fact that until now have been ignored, cosmetized, packaged, some with scientific tint, people continue to do them because nothing firm has happened so far or I have not known, in the last years, in the last years, in the last years, Time of such situations ”, says the minister.

Rogobete also stressed that not only the manager is responsible for the situation at the hospital.
