Oțelul Galati drew with UTA Arad, 2-2 (1-2), on Friday evening, at the Oțelul Stadium, in the 28th stage of the football Superleague, in the 1,000th match for the team from the Danube bank in the elite echelon.
Oțelul was leading 2-0 after a quarter of an hour, through the goals scored by Florent Poulolo (11) and Flavius Iacob (15), but managed to come back and avoid defeat. Ștefan Bană reduced the difference at the end of the first half (40), and the Brazilian defender Conrado restored the tie (56 – penalty), after a handball in the box by Flavius Iacob.
At 2-2, in the 83rd minute, referee Fluieran denied the guests a penalty, so the game ended in a draw, a perfect result for FCSB. The red-blues can overcome both opponents in the play-off if they win on Monday, at Metaloglobus.
3,064 spectators came to witness Oțelul’s 1,000th match on the country’s first football stage. The Galatasaray players entered the field with special shirts, dedicated to this historic moment. After the match, the shirts were given to fans in the stands. The Moldovans debuted in the first league on August 17, 1986, in a match with Victoria Bucharest, won 2-0, with goals scored by I. Rotaru (43rd minute) and Antohi (66th minute). The record of the Galatians is 397 wins, 218 draws and 385 defeats, the goal difference being 1215-1219.
