The night of the legends match started with an emotional moment. On one of the lawns of the National Arena, a huge canvas was displayed on which appeared the face of the late Daniel Prodan, the former great defender who died in November 2016.
All the 55,000 spectators, as well as the footballers on the pitch, both Romanian and international football legends, stopped and applauded the moment. Prodan's son, who was on the field, burst into tears.
Daniel Prodan died seven and a half years ago after his heart failed.
Mircea Sandu told what Daniel Prodan was doing in the seconds before the heart attack. “He was watching an interview given by Răzvan Lucescu, he got up from his chair, bent down, fell and that was the moment“, said the former president of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF).
