Possible case of corruption in Romanian football, where an employee of a Super League football team is suspected of having worked as an intermediary for footballers. His mission would have been to bet on the matches of the team he worked for (in the meantime, he would have been kicked out of the club).
Metaloglobus, a team with problems
The employee in question (whose name the editorial team knows, but is not yet making public, until confirmations arrive), would have bet amounts of more than 10,000 euros at more online houses on a single event. He apparently had accounts with five or six online operators.
The Risk Department at each house goes on alert when bets of more than 10,000 euros are made. Among those betting houses, the red button lit up more strongly at Casa Pariurilor and Fortuna, partners of FRF, which would have reported the case further, to the Department of Integrity at Casa Fotbalului.
After checks, Casa Pariuri and Fortuna, part of the FEG group, found out that he was involved in football and blocked his account. At the same time, they did not retain the bet amount, but returned it to him with odds of 1. That is, they gave him the invested money, without any profit.
It is not known if the rest of the operators with whom the person had an account also paid his winnings, without asking additional questions. “Săgeata” had bet on a match with odds 3, over 1.5 goals scored in the first half. At 100 lei bet, the net profit is 200 lei.
Prosport writes that the targeted team is Metaloglobus, last ranked in the Superliga, and the information in our editorial office’s possession confirms the version. And the targeted match is the one between Oțelul Galati and Metaloglobus. The Moldovans won 4-0, 3-0 at halftime. It was played on October 6, in the 12th stage.
“A group of 4-5 footballers from Metaloglobus bet against the team on the account of a staff member“, writes the aforementioned publication.
An employee of a football club is not allowed by regulation to bet on his team’s matches.
Metaloglobus has 7 points in 16 championship rounds. He achieved only one victory, 2-1 with the champion FCSB. The match had, at Betano’s house, FCSB’s sponsor, the odds of 110 for the 2/1 combination, and Fortuna and Unibet – odds of 100.
