Four contemporary artists open the exhibition year at Arsomontor with “new artifacts”

The program of the Arsomontor Gallery begins in the new year with the “new artifact” group exhibition, curated by Lina Tarmure and Silviu Pădurariu. The exhibition will open on January 30 and can be visited until March 6.

“New artifacts” presents the result of the recent curatorial collaborations of the Arsomotor gallery with three young artists: Florina Drăguș (b. 1991), Saint Machine (b. 1979), Beniamin Popescu (b. 1989) and the continuation of Radu Pandele (n. 1993 ), artist present in the first exhibition of the gallery. At the same time, the current project also marks the debut in the Arsomontor team of curator Lina Tarmure, who, from December 2024, has been active as manager and assistant curator of the gallery.

The “new artifacts” exhibition proposes a meditation on the prehistoric and contemporary dimension of the phenomenon of technicality, in the broad sense, as a defining element of the human horizon. The red thread of the exhibition project consists in updating the ancient concept of techniques, whose meaning is not only reduced to technique and manuality, but also includes the dimension of innovation and knowledge. Both the primitive forms of creative manifestation for spiritual purposes, as well as the traditional ones of ancient art under aesthetic and ethical ideals, up to the latest technological innovations that operate with artificial intelligence, have in common the anthropotechnical dimension, fundamental in human manifestation and evolution. “New artifacts” proposes a series of metaphorical objects and interventions, which invites us to reflect in a poetic sense at the traces that human evolution leaves in nature. ” (Passage from the curatorial text signed by Silviu Pădurariu).

The four artists selected for the exhibition “new artifacts” come from different generations and are some of the most representative for the new trends in the local space of contemporary art. In their artistic approach, themes and formulas in which the relative boundaries between traditional mediums and those between art, nature and technology are questioned.

The “new artifact” group exhibition is the ninth exhibition in the program of the Arsomotor Gallery, after a series of projects in which, among others, artists such as Ioana Gorzo, Dumitru Gorzo, Nicu Ilfoveanu, Pavel Ilie, Florin Mocanu, Gili Mocanu, were presented among others. Răzvan Neagoe, Bogdan Pelmuș and Magdalena Pelmuș.

The Arsomontor Gallery is a private initiative supported by Mia Munteanu, an entrepreneur, and Silviu Pădurariu, an independent curator, being the first art gallery opened in the Free Press House, in 2023.
