Four unique moments of theater and dance at the Excelsior Theatre. Shows for the whole family PHOTO

On Sunday, May 26, 11:30 a.m., at the Excelsior Theater, you are invited from young to old to four works of dance and theater. From the adaptation of one of the most famous children's stories to fantastic creatures and original choreography you can explore the big worlds of the little ones!

The event is organized by the Bucharest National Dance Center (CNDB) and is presented in a unique format by the repertoire and theater groups of the Performative School. This is the first national training and artistic education program in contemporary dance and performing arts dedicated to children between the ages of 6 and 14.

CNDB is among the few institutions that publicly present its students' results, in the form of performative moments, after acquiring and deepening the notions of contemporary dance, creation, theater and improvisation during a school year.

Spectators are expected at a collage event that includes four artistic moments of dance and theater, as follows:

Suddenly in the woods, after Amos Oz

The work is a stage adaptation made by the children, in collaboration with playwright Ruxandra Simion and the coordinating teacher, director Alexandra Vieru. The story takes place in a magical forest and follows the adventure of some children, more curious and brave than their parents, in search and rescue of animals kidnapped by an evil spirit.

Dance of fantastic creatures

This moment is prepared by the children together with the performer and choreographer Mariana Gavriciuc, who confesses that they worked based on the principles of the fairy tale: “We have created fantastic creatures to which we have given unprecedented names. We found amazing movement qualities and behaviors in them, which we incorporated to discover new movement possibilities.”

About everything that (us) moves

The following work has been built almost exclusively from the suites of movements proposed by the children during the classes, together with Catrinel Catană and Andreea Belu, choreographers and coordinators. “The students acquired technical notions and concrete tools, with which they practiced managing the inner space, where kinesthesia, introspection, decisions and emotions happen and create, as an effect, the personal mode of movement”. (Andrea Belu)

Dance = freedom

The children together with the coordinating teacher and choreographer Eva Danciu have prepared a choreographic moment through which the children can express themselves freely, as playfully as possible, in their own bodily speech, by activating the bodily and visual imagination.

Throughout the duration of the event, both young and old spectators will explore the wonderful big world of the little ones.
