Free anti-HPV vaccination for young people in Romania. Rogobete: “The vaccine will be settled through CNAS”

The Romanian Government has taken an important step in the prevention of cancers associated with HPV infection, approving on Friday, August 8, the extension of free access to anti-HPV vaccination for young people, including boys, between 11 and 26 years old.

The measure, proposed by the Ministry of Health, aims to reduce the incidence of diseases caused by the human papilloma virus, one of the main causes of cervical cancer and other types of cancer.

“Today, the Government of Romania has approved, at the proposal of the Ministry of Health, a series of important legislative changes, which will support the patients and the medical staff, strengthening the reform of the health system in Romania”, The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, said in a message published on Facebook.

The vaccine will be completely settled through the National Health Insurance House, to eliminate financial barriers and facilitate quick and efficient access to immunization.

In parallel, the government has approved four sets of norms essential for the prevention and control of infections associated with medical assistance.

Four categories of rules for the control of infections associated with medical assistance, fundamental measures for the protection of patients and sanitary personnel were approved:

1.. The norms of organizing the activities of prevention and limitation of infections in the sanitary units.

2.. Methodology for reporting infections associated with medical assistance.

3.. The duties regarding the exhibition accidents for biological products for the sanitary personnel.

4. Methodologies for the supervision of infections and the management of accidents for exposure to biological products.

“These measures are essential for improving the quality of health services and for protecting both patients and medical staff. Through these changes, the Ministry of Health and the Government of Romania take important steps towards a safer, more accessible and efficient health system,” stressed the minister Alexandru Rogobete.
