Dean Cain, the actor who performed the role of Superman in the TV series “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” Since the 1990s, it has caused a wave of controversy after announcing that it will join the service for immigrants and customs control (ICE).
Known for his conservative positions and the support declared towards Donald Trump, Dean Cain claims to take this step out of personal conviction. “It’s a patriotic debt”, he said.
“People have to take attitude”
“Ice arrests the worst of the wicked and removes them from the streets of America. I like it. I voted for it. They need your help, we need your help, to protect our homeland and our families,”
states the actor who interpreted the Superman in a video that he distributed on social networks.

In an intervention at Fox News, he explained that it was not initially part of the ICE, but that his recruitment video, in which he appealed to Americans to support the administration’s steps regarding the immigrants posted online, and the reactions received motivated him to act.
“Yesterday I published a recruitment video – in fact, I am a jury deputy and reserve police officer – I was not part of the ICE, but once I published the video and you mentioned this in your show, it went viral”, said Dean Cain a few days ago.
“People have to take an attitude. I take an attitude. I hope many other former officers, former ICE agents will take attitude, so that we immediately reach the recruitment goals and contribute to the protection of this country,” completed the former Superman, quoted by the BBC.
The actor then confirmed that he has already discussed with ICE representatives and is to take the oath: “So now I have talked to some officials from ICE and I will take the oath as an ICE agent as soon as possible.”
“It’s a patriotic debt”he said. His statements come at a time when the ICE agency, used as the main tool of Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policy, are at the center of accusations regarding abuse and inhuman treatments applied to migrants. The organization was intensely criticized for aggressive raids that targeted not only those without documents, but also people with documents or even American citizens.
Dean Cain believes, however, that ICE actions are necessary to protect the country. “This country was built on the basis of the patriots who took a step forward, whether they were popular or not and did the right thing. I really think this is the right thing. We have a defective immigration system. The Congress must repair it, but in the meantime, President Trump has applied with this topic as a go. that this will happen ”, says the actor.
The information that “Superman” will join ICE has been publicly confirmed by officials from the Department of Internal Security.
“Superman encourages Americans to become super -life super -life, responding to their country’s call to join men and brave women in Ice to help protect our communities and arrest the worst of the wicked“, said Tricia McLaughlin, deputy secretary at DHS.
Critics from Superman fans
It all happens in a tense climate, in which the Trump administration recently increased the ICE budget by $ 75 billion, and the new goals target at least 3,000 daily arrests, measures that have aroused harsh reactions from civil society, which has organized protests on this topic in many US cities.
Critics accuse that act without transparency and violate the fundamental rights of the detained, accelerating the deportation processes without respecting the legal norms. In parallel, the Trump administration has taken drastic measures against those who protest or film these actions, including the criminal prosecution of the civilians who intervene during the arrests.
Dean Cain’s decision was intensely discussed in the online environment, especially because of the strong contrast between the image of the superman hero – a refugee from another planet in America and a symbol of hope and justice for the weak – and the reality of an agency that is accused of abuses against the vulnerable.
A user on social networks wrote: “Superman himself would be disappointed with you, Dean.” The actor’s response was dry but determined: “Never”.
It is not for the first time that Cain attracts attention through controversial position. In July, the actor criticized the new Superman film directed by James Gunn in harsh terms, accusing Hollywood of an excessive ideological agenda.
“How awakened will this character Hollywood do? How much will disney white as their snow? Why will these characters change for our times?”, he told TMZ.
