The last signal from the actor’s cardiac stimulator, winner of the Oscar and 95-year-old prize, was registered on February 17, according to a pathologist, said the sheriff in Santa Fe, Adan Mendoza, in a press conference. The cause of the death of the two has not yet been established, according to Reuters.
“It is a reasonable assumption that that was his last day of life.”said reporters Mendoza.
The sheriff said that tests for carbon monoxide poisoning on Hackman and Akawa, 64, came out negative. It is not clear who died first, given that the two were discovered without life in separate rooms on Wednesday.
Mendoza again excluded the possibility of a crime.
Hackman and Arakawa lived in Santa Fe in the 1980s and were active in the artistic and culinary community of the city. In recent years, the two have been seen less rarely in public, as the health of the actor has damaged. The couple led a very withdrawn life before death, said Mendoza.
The career of the residential community in which they lived found dead on Wednesday, after looking in the house by a window, according to his call to emergency services.
The sheriff’s deputies found Hackman in the kitchen. Arakawa and a dog were discovered in the bathroom, where there were pills scattered from a bottle of open drugs, located on the countertop.
Both Hackman and Arakawa seemed to have fallen suddenly on the floor and no one showed signs of trauma caused by blows.
A door behind the house was open. Two of the couple’s survivor dogs used it to enter and leave the house, Mendoza said.
The sheriff requested a toxicological analysis of the pills found in the bathroom and other drugs in the house, considering this “a matter of interest”.
“It is a very important test at the scene of deed.”said Mendoza for NBC News, adding that the report could take three months or more.
Among the objects raised by the authorities include drugs for thyroid and heart, a calendar for 2025, two mobile phones and Myquest medical records, according to an inventory prepared by the police.
Hackman, a former marine kid known for his serious voice, appeared in over 80 films, but also in television and theater productions, in a career that started in the early 1960s.
Obtained the first Oscar nomination for his role in “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967), where he interpreted the brother of banks Clyde Barrow. Won the Oscar award for best actor in 1972, for the role of detective Popeye Doyle in “The French Connection”and in 1993 he obtained the Oscar for best supporting actor, for “UnFORGIVEN”.
