Every life matters and every second can make a difference. But, according to the “Life for Life” barometer carried out by Frappe Digital together with Generali Romania, 8 out of 10 Romanians do not trust their ability to provide first aid correctly.
According to the results of the study carried out on a sample of over 1,000 people from the urban environment, 60% of the respondents declare that they would intervene in critical situations, but at the same time, over 50% hesitate, either for fear of doing more harm to the victim (29%), or for lack of knowledge (25%) or for fear of legal consequences.
One of the main reasons for the reluctance to intervene can be the fact that almost 60% of urban Romanians have never participated in a first aid course and only about 7% have fresh knowledge, acquired in the last 12 months.
The study also reveals a real desire to learn: 7 out of 10 Romanians would learn the methods of providing first aid if they had access online or near their home or if there was a financial facility or a reward. Also, 1 in 4 believe that the main role of a life insurance must be proactive, preventive.
In this context, Generali Romania, in partnership with the EDIT Association, joins public initiatives for first aid training and announces the launch of the “Life for Life” Insurance Program. This initiative has an educational and preventive role, in the context of a substantial lack of training of the population regarding first aid techniques. The program is based on two components: active prevention and education, along with information about life insurance and the financial protection provided by it.
“At Generali, we firmly believe that our role goes beyond the simple payment of compensation and we must be active partners in the area of education and prevention. Through the “Life for Life” Insurance Program, we want to give Romanians the necessary knowledge and confidence in their ability to act correctly in critical moments and turn good intentions into saved lives.” he stated Daniel PeneChief Commercial Officer and Member of the Directorate Generali Romania.
The first component of the campaign consists of the online course on first aid, available for free on generali.ro/viata-pentru-viata/ and designed in an interactive and accessible format, covering the most common critical scenarios such as: checking breathing, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and PLS (lateral safety position), suffocation – Heimlich maneuver, stroke, epileptic seizures or convulsive seizures, allergic reactions and anaphylactic shock. These are complemented by physical training sessions in Bucharest, organized under the guidance of EDIT Association trainers. Thus, those interested have the opportunity to transform theoretical knowledge into practical skills, essential for saving lives.
“Every citizen should know that a first aid course provides simple but decisive techniques in those ‘golden minutes’ until emergency crews arrive. Through the partnership with Generali, we aim to reach as many Romanians as possible, ensuring them easy access to first aid courses so that they can make a difference in times of crisis”. he stated Ion ArseniVice President of the EDIT Association
In addition to educating people about first aid, the “Life for Life” Insurance Program includes Practic Plus and Majorat insurance policies, with a minimum insurance premium of 1,800 lei per year, which now benefits from a discount of 180 lei in the first year.
