Mircea Geoană, number two in NATO, could be the subject of criminal investigations, because he uses the NATO insignia in his own interests, wrote Remus Pricopie, rector of SNSPA, on his Facebook page.
Mircea Geoană could be criminally investigated, warns the rector of SNSPA PHOTO Archive
He accused Mircea Geoană of a “abused the good faith of the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, as he betrayed the trust of all those who supported him over time”, but also that it still uses “NATO insignia to make the most extensive political campaign of the “clandestine” type in the last 30 years”.
“With this money, he put into operation a network of dozens of people, paid monthly, through various NGOs or through other mechanisms, for the moment unclear, to work on a campaign which, in essence, is illegal”Remus Pricopie also wrote.
The rector of the SNSPA believes that this could even lead to a criminal investigation.
“When more data will be collected in this regard, I do not rule out witnessing the initiation of criminal investigations. And NATO, in this case, will be a collateral victim, but which still has a certain fault: it tolerated inappropriate behavior of the one who occupies the second position, in terms of importance, in this institution”he relayed.
This is because, according to him, “the financing of an electoral campaign from non-transparent sources falls under the Penal Code both in Romania and in France, Germany, Italy or any other democratic country in the world.”
“If we are talking about a solid, democratic state, or strong international institutions, then the first rule that must be remembered is that of respect for norms, for laws”the rector concluded.
