The businessman Georgică Cornu will be tried on the merits in the case in which he is accused of violating the protection order against Marina Almășan, after the Bucharest Court definitively rejected the appeal filed in the preliminary chamber procedure.
The businessman is being sued for more than 20 material acts of violation of the protection order.
“Definitely. The businessman Georgică Cornu, sent to trial on the merits in the case of violation of the protection order with 21 material documents. The Bucharest court today definitively rejected the appeal to the preliminary chamber through which he tried to escape the criminal case”the lawyer Adrian Cuculis sent on Tuesday.
Through the decision issued by the Bucharest Court, the case moves to the substantive trial stage, after which the court will analyze the accusations formulated in the indictment.
Georgică Cornu and Marina Almașan had a relationship for 12 years
Marina Almășan and Timișoara businessman Georgică Cornu had a relationship that lasted about 12 years, but their separation, announced in 2024, was followed by a conflict that moved from the public space to the court.
The TV presenter claimed that, after the end of the relationship, Georgica Cornu would have continued to insistently contact her and monitor her home. According to her statements, she even had to change the lock of the apartment, after the businessman allegedly entered the building in her absence and left flowers at her door.
Disputes between the two continued both in the press and on social networks, where they made accusations at each other. Later, the conflict ended up in court, Marina Almășan calling on the lawyer Adrian Cuculis and requesting the issuance of a protection order against the former partner.
The file later evolved into a criminal plan, Georgică Cornu being sent to court for the alleged violation of the protection order issued in favor of the TV presenter.
Georgică Cornu benefits from the presumption of innocence until a final court decision is issued.
