Gică Hagi turns 59 today, but he's only thinking about football: “I don't like presents”

Gică Hagi, one of the greatest players that Romania has given, turns 59 today, 42 of which he spent in the world of football, after, in 1982, he made his debut in the big team of Farului Constanța. Now owner of the seaside club, the champions' manager is celebrating his day at work with a match against leaders FCSB tonight.

The coincidence means that the most important game for the Constanta team will be played on February 5, in stage number 24 of the Superliga. But Gică Hagi declared before the big match that he doesn't want any birthday present, because everything he got in his life was through work.

Farul is a traditional club, which is many years old. We respect, we are still far from the clubs that have a great tradition of winning, being winners. It's hard to earn that respect right away. I know that we meet a very good team and we want to be new, to be able to impose ourselves.

Everything in life is achieved through work

(no. The best present would be a win?) I don't like presents. Ask that question to someone else, not me. I don't like gifts, I don't want gifts, I know that everything in life is achieved through work. We will go, we will work very well and we will do it. The rest… I like to work and do my best”declared Gică Hagi, before tonight's match.

Instead, his good friend and collaborator from Farul, Gică Popescu, assured that the team is preparing a gift for his manager:
“We will play FCSB in Bucharest. The most suitable gift for Gică Hagi would be victory”.
