Gigi Becali harshly attacks Călin Georgescu’s statements about the imposition of conditions on the European Union and NATO, supporting Romania’s membership in these organizations and highlighting the economic and security benefits of EU and NATO integration.

Gigi Becali, AUR deputy and FCSB financier, launched a vehement attack against those who challenge Romania’s membership in the European Union and NATO. In a show on ProSport’s YouTube channel, Becali discussed the economic and security advantages of integration in these organizations and criticized the voices promoting the idea of a “Roexit”, according to stiripesources.ro.
Becali began by emphasizing the positive impact that the European Union had on Romania, both economically and socially. “Stop talking nonsense!” was his reaction to those who support leaving the EU. “We were primitive before. The European Union raised us! We now have six times the GDP. If it wasn’t for the EU, we’d be miserable, poor people.” Financier FCSB showed that the value of land and houses has increased significantly, and the country’s infrastructure has improved considerably due to EU membership.
Becali also emphasized the access to European funds, such as the PNRR, which accelerated Romania’s economic development. However, he criticized “import of morality” and “lack of religion” from other member states of the European Union. “Romania has risen economically, but we must not accept changes that do not correspond to our fundamental values“, he added.
In front of those who criticize the European Union, Becali did not hesitate to launch harsh accusations: “Anyone who is against the EU is too stupid, peasant, stupid, backward and poor. If it wasn’t for the EU, we were stuck to the ground.” This statement underlines, in his view, the major difference that the EU has brought to Romania’s economic and social life.
In addition to the support for the European Union, Gigi Becali reaffirmed his support for Romania’s membership in NATO, considering the organization a guarantor of national security. “We are in NATO. Are you sleeping soundly in your bed? No one is attacking you. What does it cost us? 2% of GDP? Does 6 billion matter for a state so that the citizen can sleep peacefully?” explained Becali, emphasizing the importance of this alliance for the protection of citizens and the national territory.
Also, the financier FCSB rejected criticism of the presence of American bases on Romanian territory, stressing that these bases bring significant economic benefits. “When you have American bases on the territory, investors come, they invest a lot of money. Anyone who says otherwise is too idiotic,” was his reaction to those who dispute their role in attracting foreign capital.
As for Călin Georgescu, Becali mentioned that he supports him out of patriotism, but does not agree with all the opinions expressed by him, especially when it comes to imposing conditions on the European Union or NATO. “What are you going to impose, Georgescule? Ignore you, you’re like a flake. But I vote for him, because he is a patriot. But when he says nonsense, I don’t agree.“Although he supports moderate nationalist ideas, Becali emphasized that he does not agree with the isolation of Romania from its strategic partners, emphasizing the fact that the country’s national integrity and prosperity depend on maintaining ties with the EU and NATO.
Finally, Gigi Becali reaffirmed the benefits brought by Romania’s membership in the European Union and NATO: “The EU and nato they gave us billions and security. Those who say otherwise are current.” He also emphasized that membership of these organizations not only protects Romania from a military point of view, but also provides essential economic opportunities for the country’s development.
