The Gloria Bistriţa women’s handball team defeated the Norwegian Storhamar Handball Elite at home on Saturday, score 31-28 (13-15), in the first match of 2025, counting for the ninth stage of group A of the Champions League.

Following the result, Gloria Bistrita climbs to 6th place (6 points).

In the ninth stage, the first of this year in group A, the matches between Nykobing Falster Handbold Club – Podravka, Krim Ljubljana – FTC Budapest and Metz Handball – CSM Bucharest are also played.

In the next round, Gloria will play away against Podravka on January 18.

The previous results obtained by Gloria Bistrita in group A are: 30-26 with CSM Bucharest, 26-28 with Metz, 30-35 with Krim, 28-32 with FTC Budapest, 25-29 with Podravka, 23-25 ​​with Storhamar, 29 -37 and 24-32 with Nykobing Falster Handbold Club, writes news.ro.

The vice-champion Rapid Bucharest also plays in group B of the competition.

The first two placed in the two groups qualify directly for the quarterfinals, and the teams in the 3rd-6th places will play in the play-off, for the other four places available in the quarterfinals, in which phase they will fight for the Final Four Tournament in Budapest ( 31 May – 1 June).

The holder of the trophy is the Hungarian band Gyor ETO, who won the sixth trophy in 2024.
