David Popovici won the gold medal on Saturday in the 100 m free sample from the European Youth Swimming Championship (U23) from Samorin. The time of 46.71 succeeded by the Romanian represents a new European record of the sample, writes News.
It is the second time in history, after the world record of Pan Zhanle (46,40).
In the second and third positions were the Croats Jere Hribar (48.33) and Toni Dragoja (48.67).
The other Romanian from the final, Patrick-Sebastian Dinu, ranked 7th, with 48.87.
For David Popovici is the third medal from Samorin, after gold at 200 m free and bronze at 50 m free. For Romania he obtained a medal and Denis-Laurean Popescu: gold at 100 m butterfly.
