A record number of 122 Romanian productions enters the jury stage for the 19th Gopo Awards. These are feature films, documentaries and short films launched in cinemas, national and international festivals or on streaming platforms in 2024. The event will take place on April 29, in Bucharest.

The selection of films is made by two pre -selection juries: one dedicated to feature films, made up of 11 professionals of the film industry, and one for documentation and short films, consisting of 5 specialists.
Among the critics, directors and producers involved in this process are Dana Duma, Ion Indolean, Marian Crișan, Constantin Popescu, Maria Popistașu and Anamaria Antoci.
Documentation and short films include 5 industry professionals: film critics Cezar Gheorghe and Andreea Chiper, director Șerban Georgescu, film producer Velvet Moraru and film selector Anca Păunescu.
In the best film category, there are 42 feature films in the competition, including: Moromites 3 (r. Stere Gulea), three kilometers to the end of the world (r. Emanuel Pârvu) and the good boys arrive in Heaven (r. Radu Potcoava) . Also, 22 documentaries, such as Nasty (r. Tudor Giurgiu) and Hai, Romania (r. Claudiu Mitcu), along with 67 short films, compete for nominations.
Nasty (r. Tudor Giurgiu, Cristian Pascariu, Tudor D. Popescu), eight illustrated from the ideal world (r. Radu Jude, Christian Ferencz-Flatz), Alice On & Off (r. Isabela Tent), Amar (r. Diana Gavra ) and Come, Romania (r. Claudiu Mitcu) are among the 22 productions registered in the competition in the documentary category.
In the short film category, 67 films were registered, including fiction, documentaries and animations. Among the selected titles are last year at the North Station (r. Marin Cumatrenco), flowers, girls and boys (r. Simona Borcea), restlessness (r. Simona Deaconescu, Paul Negoescu), about the impossibility of a tribute (r. Xandra Popescu ) and Buffon (r. The final nominations will be announced in March, and the winners will be appointed by the vote of over 650 professionals of the film industry, under the supervision of the PWC Romania audit company.
