20 years after the first edition, the Gopo Awards 2026 bring 124 Romanian films to the competition. “Baby Teeth” dominates the nominations with 12 categories, while the winners will be voted on by more than 700 film industry professionals. The gala takes place on May 4.
Five films officially enter the competition for the trophy in the most coveted category of the Gopo Awards – Best Feature Film: “Comatogen” (dir. Igor Cobileanski), “Milk Teeth” (dir. Mihai Mincan), “Kontinental ’25” (dir. Radu Jude), “Don’t Let Me Die” (dir. Andrei Epure) and the documentary “Tata” (dir. Lina Vdovîi, Radu Ciorniciuc).
“Milk Teeth” leads the list of the most nominated films, appearing in 12 award categories. Followed by “Don’t Let Me Die” (9 nominations) and “Yellow Tie” (8 nominations). The productions “Comatogen” and “Kontinental ’25” are both nominated in 7 award categories.
In the Best Director category, Igor Cobileanski is nominated for “Comatogen”, Mihai Mincan for “Milk Teeth”, Radu Jude for the film “Kontinental ’25”, Andrei Epure for “Don’t let me die” and Tudor Giurgiu for “Spruce Forest”.
The race for the Best Actress in a leading role trophy includes: Daniela Nane for the role of Alina Zlot in “Comatogen”, Ilinca Hărnuț for the role of Lena in the film “Ink Wash”, Eszter Tompa for the role of Orsolya in “Kontinental ’25”, Cosmina Stratan for the performance of Maria Laurint in “Nu ma laţa sa mor” and Coca Bloos for the role of Minodora in “The Spruce Forest”.

The best actor in a leading role will be decided between Daniel Popa for the role of Gabriel Vânătoru in the movie “Classed”, Andrei Aradits for the role of Pavel in “Comatogen”, Ben Schnetzer for the interpretation of the young Sergiu Celibidache in “Cravata Benă” and Mircea Andreescu for the role of Gheorghe Holovati in “Pădurea de molizi”.
The Best Documentary Film category includes the following titles: “CALIU: Nothing else, what can I do” (dir. Simona Constantin), “Little Syria” (dir. Mădălina Roșca, Reem Karssli), “Tata” (dir. Lina Vdovîi, Radu Ciorniciuc), “TWST / Things We Said Today” (dir. Andrei Ujică) and “Viitor Luminos” (dir. Andra MacMasters).
The best debut film will be voted among the following productions: “Classed” (dir. Horia Cucută, George ve Gänæaard), “Ink Wash” (dir. Sarra Tsorakidis), “Nu mă lăsa sa mor” (dir. Andrei Epure), “Tata” (dir. Lina Vdovîi) and “Bright Future” (dir. Andra MacMasters).
