Gorgeous images of pink-flowered mountain peonies providing a fairytale landscape in the Rodney Mountains National Park

The mountain peonies in Rodnei Mountains National Park have started to bloom. Gorgeous pictures of pink or bright red flowers have been published by Romsilva representatives.

“The mountain peony, Rhododendron kotschyi, is a protected species and we ask tourists visiting the areas not to pick or destroy these beautiful flowers. Rhododendron can be found in our country in the eastern or southern Carpathians and the maximum flowering period is in the second part of June and the beginning of July. Romsilva representatives wrote on Facebook.

The plant is a perennial and grows spontaneously in dwarf bushes in sunny alpine areas. The flowers are pink or bright red and are clustered, giving the feeling of bouquets.

Rodnei Mountains National Park, one of the 22 national and natural parks managed by the National Forestry-Romsilva Directorate, is the second national park in the country in terms of area, with over 47,000 hectares, being located in the northern part of the country, in the counties Maramureș and Bistrita-Năsăud.

The Rodna Mountains National Park includes part of the Rodna Mountains and has a rich fauna, including the black goat, the Carpathian deer, the roe deer, the wild boar, the bear, the wolf, the lynx, the marmot, the badger, the tree marten, the birch grouse, the grouse mountain or mountain eagle.
