Sorin Grindeanu, the interim president of the Social Democratic Party, announced on Tuesday evening, during a telephone intervention in Romania TV, that he will no longer remain as Minister of Transport, regardless of the configuration of the future government. At the same time, he presented the “red lines” of the PSD, making disclosures about the negotiations that took place at the Cotroceni Palace.

“I do not stay at the Ministry of Transport, that I assure you. The mandate I received from my colleagues in the PSD I do not think I can fully fulfill it in the post of minister“, Said Grindeanu.
Regarding the consultations from Cotroceni, the interim president of the PSD reminded three “red lines” over which he said that his party would not pass.
“We do not accept the decrease of Romanians’ income. We do not support the reduction of important investments, including those in local administrations. We insist on continuing the big investment projects – highways, education, health. We will never agree with the decrease of the revenues of the Romanians, whether it is pensions or salaries. It’s hard to negotiate these things ever”, Declared the social-democratic leader.
At the same time, Grindeanu criticized the alarmist discourse promoted by some political formations and rejected the idea that Romania is in recession: “I am not a fan of this apocalyptic image. I had no recession in the first quarter, and such statements only create unnecessary panic.“
Grindeanu also stated that the discussions held so far with President Nicușor Dan have been focused on economic principles and that a prime minister’s name has not yet been discussed.
“We are waiting for the proposals from the Presidential Administration. Subsequently, we will decide inside the party, consulting the entire structure – from central leadership to mayors and parliamentarians.“
According to him, the PSD does not flee responsibility and understands its role as a majority party in Parliament in the current political context.
