The president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, responded to the mayor of the Capital, Ciprian Ciucu, after he stated that, although he managed important budgets throughout his career, he did not accumulate fortunes comparable to those of other politicians.
“Know that I grew up in the country, I grew up on the block. Any issue I have is justified. I’m not a rich man, but I’m not a poor man either.” said Grindeanu on Thursday, July 16, at Antena 3 CNN.
The PSD president adds that his wealth is transparent considering the years spent in politics, always being subject to checks.
“These things can be seen in the declaration of wealth that I have published or if, how to say, someone has question marks. I have no problem giving all the data. I have been in politics for so many years that I have been turned on all sides.
Whether I was deputy mayor, president of the County Council, prime minister, minister and so on, so that my life, from this point of view, is in sight”he continues.
Grindeanu also states that there is a major difference between him and Ciprian Ciucu.
“There is a big difference between me and him. I was not accused by the DNA of taking bribes of hundreds of thousands of euros. At the moment Mr. Ciucu is a suspect, he is accused in a case of taking bribes from some real estate developers. The rest is gargle”says the PSD leader.

Recently, the mayor of the capital spoke about the administration of Bucharest, corruption and the fortunes of politicians.
“I am accused of bribery, that I took a bribe. Well, where is that bribe? Shouldn’t they see something in the style of my life? The Edilul of the Capital said that, since he has been in politics, he has not changed his lifestyle and gave as an example the house where he says he lives.
“I’m not a rich guy. I haven’t changed my lifestyle. I’ve been mayor for almost six years. I didn’t even go to Monaco with the Nordis. (…) How many mayors who had the budgets I had under me, as a sector mayor, live in a three-room apartment in Drumul Camperei? How many?”, said Ciucu.
