Simona Halep (32 years old, 1,150 WTA) has repeatedly said that she wants to be on the French Open 2024 (May 20 – June 9), but, for now, she has not even had the chance to play a match on clay in this season in an attempt to prepare his return to a Grand Slam.

Medical problems prevented Simona from participating in the Billie Jean King Cup, Oeiras and Madrid. In Rome, she was skipped from the list of wild cards granted by the organizers. So, at the moment, Simona's only option to debut on clay, in 2024, remains the competition called Trophee Clarins, about which Adevărul wrote here.
Unfortunately, beyond her medical issues, Halep also faces a painful scenario. Namely the fact that, even if she is 100% fit, her chances of playing at Roland Garros are slim, as Adevărul explained here. They have shrunk even more now that Simona made the decision to skip the competition qualifiers.
The list of athletes who have registered in this phase has just been published. Simona Halep's name does not appear there. Instead, there are four other Romanians who made the decision to perform in the qualifications: Gabriela Ruse (143 WTA), Irina Bara (168 WTA), Anca Todoni (196 WTA) and Miriam Bulgaru (209 WTA). They need to string together three wins each to reach the main draw.
So, Halep pinned all her hopes on receiving a wild-card for the French Open. Otherwise, she will watch the Paris tournament on TV.
