Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones hat sold for a record in Los Angeles

One of the most iconic accessories in cinema, the fedora hat worn by Harrison Ford in the movie “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom”, has been sold at auction for a record $630,000, according to the BBC.

This iconic piece, which accompanied Indy’s adventures in many perils, was worn by both the lead actor and his stuntman, Dean Ferrandini. The hat, made especially for the film, was sold along with previously unpublished photos of Ferrandini wearing the full costume.

A brown felt fedora made especially for the film Temple of Doom fetched $630,000 (£487,000) in Los Angeles.

Jones, an adventurous archaeologist, is seen wearing the hat at the beginning of the film, in which he and his companions jump from a crashing plane into an inflatable raft. During the scene, he is on a plane with singer Wilhelmina “Willie” Scott, played by Kate Capshaw, and his 12-year-old friend Short Round, played by Ke Huy Quan, as they escape the clutches of a gang Chinese criminals.

The auction house said the hat was also used during additional shots at producer George Lucas’ visual effects facilities.

Along with the Indiana Jones hat, other famous movie collectibles were sold, such as a “Star Wars” stormtrooper helmet ($315,000) and a “Harry Potter” wand ($53,550). .

Meanwhile, a suit worn by Daniel Craig in the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall sold for $35,000 (£27,000).
