The students of several top high schools in Sibiu participated the last days at the Ball of the Balls, a kind of ball of the buds, where they spent all night on manele rhythms. It is a news story that should not surprise anyone, because such events – or not organized by schools – take place everywhere and every year. And the handles are the cherry on the cake of all such parties.

Even so, there are voices that have revolted especially in the context in which functional illiteracy reaches dramatic quotas, school dropout is in flower, and education is on the ground. A university professor, historian and sociologist within SNSPA told “Adevărul” that “Parangelia ” can be viewed as a “Social cancer verdict for Romanian society”.
“Shiki Shiki Boom, I disturbed the peace,
Shiki Shiki Boom, and the police come,
Shiki Shiki Boom, we still do our Damblaua,
Shiki Shiki Boom, so it’s my country ”
They are the lyrics of an interpretation of the manelist tzancă the hurricane in front of hundreds of students and who have hysterized the audience. And we do not refer here to cheerful weddings, nor to the bars, but to the students of the elite high schools in the city.

Professor Bogdan Bucur said that everyone is free to listen to any kind of music wants. But “To make Manea a society music to be listened to at the first formal event in the life of some young people – the Ball of the Bobocilor – is unacceptable. It is extremely serious and confirms the tendency of accentuated cultural degradation that Romania follows ”, consider this.
The teacher believes that the organization of such an event should involve a formal frame, an evening outfit and cultured music, not manele and random clothing: “You can listen to manele in clubs, behind blocks or at home. But not at society events that should be organized formally. Listening to the manele at such an event is like ordering Shaorma at a gastronomic restaurant, we would go in shorts at the Athenaeum or “Treling” – as it is said new – at the opera. It’s like covering a hole in the wall in the bathroom with a painting by Grigorescu. It is as if we want to establish communism in Switzerland or raise communist blocks near the Colosseum in Rome. It may be, but it’s a sin. “
The specialist believes that there is nothing wrong in listening to manele, eating shaorma, in dressing in shorts or training. “However, the social inadequacy of these types of cultural consumption is wrong”, however, ” he says.

Ball of Bobocilor, an aspirational event, not a parang like at the corner of the street
The Ball of the Bobocilor should be an aspirational event culturally for children: “To dress adequately to such an event. The ladies, in an evening dress, the boys, in some elegant costumes. To dance society dances, to listen to quality music. And in no case a parang made as behind the blocks on the Ferentari extension. The Ball of the Bobocilor should be an event of society organized by the national educational infrastructure to celebrate a certain type of incipient maturity. The Ball of the Bobocilor should not have the status of club party ”.
The teacher’s conclusion is that the underground has become officially recognized as a cultural landmark: “We no longer distinguish between what we do in the neighborhood, when we stop at the corner of the block and eat a shaorma, and what we do when we participate in a ball. As the name says, the Ball of the Bobocilor has a certain history and a special significance. And it is totally wrong as these children, at the first society event they participate institutionally, to find the same experiences in their daily lives ”. For the Ball of the Bobocilor, says the specialist, we should prepare different from how we are preparing when we go to the market, “Let’s break a bag of seeds, eat three little ones and open a beer.”
About Dimitrie Cantemir, Tzancă Hurricane and grandparents’ fur
Today’s handle is a degraded form of Dimitrie Cantemir’s music, in fact the first manelist of the country, continues the specialist: “Dimitrie Cantemir is the founder of Turkish-Oosmane music, a classic oriental manele composer, the first scholar of this country and the first member of a foreign academy I had. It can be rightly called a manelist academic. And who has the curiosity to enter YouTube and listen to Cantemir’s music, will notice that it has nothing to do with what is listened to today. “

Professor Bucur makes a comparison between the two musical genres – the original handle and the present: “The rages of our grandparents and mothers represent the evening dresses of the ladies in the contemporary society. Undoubtedly, we are witnessing a degradation of the style that sends to the idea of emptiness. Also towards the idea of emptiness we can find this degradation of rhythms of 300 years ago. Cantemir’s handle is gorgeous music. Tzancă’s handle the hurricane is only a stylistic degradation of the original one ”.
In the teacher’s opinion, the manele that is listened to today, in addition to discussing an acoustic disturbing interpretation, deliver a socially devaluing message through lyrics. A message inviting to social insubordination, rejection of social order – things with connotations of illegality and criminal offense.
Teacher: “If you want to meditate on nature, do not listen to” summer “by Nicolae Guță”
The handle has never been a cult music, Professor Bucur continued. Although it praises the same feelings as truly cultured music, a huge gap between the two genres is fired: “And our brass music expresses the ordinary feelings we all live: joy, sadness, happiness, longing, pain, etc. So does folk music. But we are talking about a simplistic musical genre. And this is our big problem: we would like these students of elite schools to tend towards cult music. This, especially especially in the context of an event such as the Ball of the Bobocilor ”.

The famous area “Libymo us” Lieti Calici “from the” traviata “opera prahogias love, joy, pleasure and lust, the specialist continues:”About the same, however, is the message in the handle and «Jenifer of iron» of Raihold, a contemporary manelist. I hope we all agree that the beautiful idea of joy of life must be transmitted to the children through Verdi’s music, and not through Raihold’s handle. “
Moreover, if we want to meditate on death and to express a deeply human concern on this funeral theme, we can choose the Verdi’s recovation, which is interpreted this week at the Athenaeum: “And not the handle «Beat death a nail» of Miraj Tsunami. Then if we want to meditate on courage and cutesis we listen to «Symphony no. 3 heroic» de Beethovenand not the handle «Alone I give me courage always», by Florin Salam. If we want to meditate on the paradisiacal nature we listen to «Seasons», by Vivaldi, and not the handle «Summer is coming», by Nicolae Guță, Bogdan Bucur says.

The idea is as obvious as possible: not the theme itself or the rhythm are disturbing to a hand, but musical aesthetics. Therefore, what bothers us about the hands? The aggressive-antisocial message, the lyrics of an offensive simplicity for an educated man, the screaming rhythm and the disturbing interpretation from an acoustic point of view. We bother us the aesthetics of the manele and not the manele themselves, said Professor Bucur.
Specialist: “You can be an educated, but uneducated man”
Professor Bucur believes that education has nothing to do with culture. It is just a prejudice to believe that an educated man is also a cult: “Theoretically, there is no flagrant contradiction between a good quality education and a culture of poor bill. Theoretically, they can live together. But it’s a sin. “ The teacher believes that between education and culture, the equality sign should not be put, being two different issues: “Different, but not diametrically opposed. For you can be a good engineer, a good specialist, a scientist with a university diploma but, from a cultural point of view, Afon ”.
Therefore, who should fill this void? The school would be the first and most handy response. But it is an extremely difficult mission, Professor Bucur believes: “Let us transmit through the school cultural values is a complex mission, a responsibility of the teacher who should deliver, first of all, giving himself as an example.”. But the culture of the students should take care not only the school, but the whole society, starting from family, relatives, friends, the environment in which the child grows and develops. Basically, if we stay and analyze correctly, coldly, to culturalize the children is a mission of ours, of all. “However, unfortunately, the networks of cultural influence among the society were completely collapsed,” says Prof. Bucur.

The event in Sibiu is not singular, because such parties have their own every year in most cities in the country. Above is the poster that announced the Ball of the Bobocilor oralized this year in a club in Galați.
In order to listen to Tzancă Hurricane, the students from Sibiu paid tickets between 120 and 230 lei, and the event was not organized by schools.
