Holiday stress can decrease sex drive. The paradox that shows how to counter the effect

While some couples see the holidays as a time for bonding and snuggling by the fireplace, for others sex and romance are the last things on their minds this time of year. The reason is stress according to Yahoo! Life.

Holiday stress can get in the way of intimacy. Shopping, wrapping presents, cooking, attending holiday parties, financial calculations, traveling and visiting family often add the added pressure of keeping track of all the holiday activities the child is involved in or the desire to make things more festive diverts the mind from sex.

Yahoo Life talked to some experts to find out what to do when holiday stress affects your libido.

“Stress impacts every aspect of our lives, including our sex lives. When we're stressed, we might feel like we don't have time for intimacy. We may feel touched, especially as parents. We may not feel like it, etc,” Jillian Amodio, clinical social worker at Waypoint Wellness Center, tells Yahoo Life.

Libido can be stimulated with… sex

According to the specialist, stress also has an effect on hormones:

“Chronic stress and elevated cortisol levels biologically suppress our sex drive,” states Jillian Amodio.

Paradoxically, sex can often help relieve stress. In other words, you can fight the lack of libido precisely with sex. And this can be a challenge worth trying.

We remind you that an extremely simple solution for stimulating libido is jogging.

Neurologist Nicole Prause claims that a run can increase your sexual appetite, writes The Independent.

“In general, if you see your partner when your heart rate is high, you're more likely to attribute the excitement of physical exertion to your attraction“, explains the neurologist.

Clean bedding can be an aphrodisiac

The results of a study commissioned by representatives of the entertainment company Mecca, in which 2,000 people participated, revealed that losing weight, clean bed linen and earning a sum of money are the best aphrodisiacs for women.

On the other hand, male libido reaches its peak after a night out on the town, drinking beer, in the company of friends, “Daily Mail” reports.
