Like every day of Passion Week, Wednesday has a special significance. On Maundy Wednesday, we commemorate the sinful woman who washed the Savior's feet with tears and anointed them with myrrh, as a symbol of the repentance and correction of sinful man.

Also on Maundy Wednesday in Passion Week, the moment when Judas sold the Savior for 30 pieces of silver is remembered. Therefore, Holy Wednesday is the day when we must forgive or ask for forgiveness, so that we free our souls from this burden.

After the discussion about the price of myrrh, Judas Iscariot left Jesus and secretly went to the house of Caiaphas. On the evening of Wednesday, Judas met with the members of the Sanhedrin and made a direct proposal to them, without detours: “What do you give me and I give Him to you?”. Without thinking twice, the Pharisees offered him 30 pieces of silver, the price of betrayal.

According to popular tradition, believers who fast on this day will be protected from diseases on Holy Wednesday throughout the year.
