The general mayor, Nicuşor Dan, declared on Wednesday that the decision regarding the withdrawal of the main duties of the vice-mayor Stelian Bujduveanu was taken because he is part of a hostile majority towards him. PNL accused the mayor of entering the role of the politician with “party interests”.

“It was unnatural. It was very natural at the time when I gave him those duties, that is, then we had an agreement between the mayor and a majority in the General Council, consisting of USR, PMP and PNL. The two big parties in this coalition received the positions of deputy mayor and assignments and we all worked together and what we did in three years, good or bad, we settle these years together. At this moment, starting yesterday, when PNL and PSD announced that they are coming with their budget project and their vision for the Capital, a new majority was formed in the General Council, which is hostile to the mayor. The deputy mayor being in this majority in the Council, it would be absurd to criticize the mayor from this position and to be in collaboration with the mayor from the other position. And then it is a natural decision to take his duties and of course after the elections, depending on the majority we will form, we will renegotiate the duties for the vice mayors”, said Nicușor Dan, at DIGI 24, when asked why he decided to remove Stelian Bujduveanu from his duties.

Asked if it was revenge, the general mayor of the Capital denied it and claimed that: “it's a logical, natural decision, you can't be in two places at the same time”.
Nicușor Dan stated that the PSD-PNL alliance for the common candidate for the Capital City Hall is not viewed favorably by some liberal councilors and that he has a very good relationship including with Bujduveanu.
“Now I won't… Of course we lived together for three years, we talked. I established some personal relationships during this period, and of course for some of them it is not the happiest moment, when the central leadership of the party changed direction. This is what happens in politics. And including with Stelian Bujduveanu I have a very good personal relationship”, said Dan, when asked what he is conveying to the PNL councilors who supported him in the fight with the PSD during the current mandate and who entered the Capital City Hall with an anti-PSD slogan.
The general mayor of the Capital stated that the liberal would have understood the decision. “I called him today, but he was in this big conference with the candidate announcement, but we exchanged some messages. I told him it was nothing personal and he gave me a like or a monkey of it, from the phone, telling me that he knows, that he understands and that everything is fine.(…) Let's call them emoticons”, said Nicușor Dan, when asked if the deputy mayor told him if he was sorry or what he had conveyed.
The Bucharest PNL reaction: A political and incorrect gesture
PNL Bucharest reported that the general mayor of the capital, Nicuşor Dan, left the position of independent and entered the role of the politician with party interests.
“A political and incorrect gesture: Nicușor Dan revoked the main executive duties of the deputy mayor Stelian Bujduveanu. Through his gesture, Nicușor Dan clearly left the position of independent and manager of the Capital City Hall, which he promoted so much, and entered the role of the politician with party interests. Stelian Bujduveanu is the PNL vice-mayor, who had an impeccable activity for four years at the Capital City Hall, with consistent results, but suddenly his duties were revoked. And this after Stelian Bujduveanu made proposals for a more judicious use of money from the Capital's budget”, PNL Bucharest sent, through an official press release.
The liberals claimed that Nicușor Dan does not understand the importance of teamwork.
“The statement in the press release issued by Nicușor Dan demonstrates once again, unfortunately, how little he understands the importance of teamwork, reproaching the National Liberal Party for deciding to form another majority. In fact, it is about the effort to unblock the Capital's budget, at the same time supporting amendments to improve it, amendments that will be approved tomorrow, for the benefit of the citizens of Bucharest. We are talking about money for heating and public transport, as the PNL has requested for more than a month, and other good projects for Bucharest, such as the Ciurel crossing”, stated PNL Bucharest.
The liberals also criticized a previous statement by the mayor of the Capital, who said that it is illogical for the deputy mayor to be simultaneously and in opposition to the general mayor and to work in the mayor's specialized apparatus.
“It would have been correct for the General Mayor, Nicușor Dan, to make decisions based on the achievements of Stelian Bujduveanu and not to compose a political analysis of the situation in the General City Hall. Stelian Bujduveanu periodically presented to public opinion the actions taken in carrying out his duties, being aware that he is at the service of the citizens of Bucharest”. it is also shown in the communiqué of the liberals.
