What Minister David conveyed to high school students: “Negative stress does not help you”
The Minister of Education told the children that he did not change the methodology out of respect for them but also for the process of organizing the exam that has already started. Daniel David advises students to try as hard as they can, not to stress more than necessary, have confidence in their strengths, focus, go into the tests with a positive vibe and give their best . A failure, on the other hand, should not be seen as a drama, because failure does not define our personal worth, but only a punctual performance.
“Dear students, in the coming days you will participate in the skills assessment tests (tests A, B, C, D) of the national baccalaureate exam 2025 – first session. The methodology is one elaborated in 2024, which, out of respect for you and for the process started, I have not modified it. But I always monitored things, especially since the methodology is new, and based on the feedback from the schools, without changing the methodology, I tried to facilitate its implementation through various administrative decisions to make things more efficient. And I will do it again when it is necessary for the sake of creating the best context that we can have under the conditions of our educational system in order to be able to express your acquired skills as best as possible.
As a psychologist I can tell you that hypermotivation/intense negative stress (distress) does not help you, but adequate motivation, in conditions of psychological balance and even a reasonable dose of stress (eustress), can mobilize you for examinations. So don’t be afraid of your own emotions but also don’t worry more than necessary because that doesn’t help, just be brave and confident and give your all at the time of exams!
To those who will achieve the expected performance, I say congratulations from now on! To those who will not achieve the expected performance, I remind you that although it is an important assessment, it does not define your personal worth, only your point performance; let’s learn from the result and try to use it as wisely as possible! So, aim to succeed and give it your all, but accept that if you don’t happen to achieve the desired performance, there may still be a personal gain, in the spirit of the wise words of Nelson Mandela: “I never lose. Either win or learn!”, it is stated in the message sent by the Minister of Education.
The minister’s message for teachers and parents: “It’s not easy to change your routines”
The Minister of Education thanks the teachers for their efforts in organizing the winter exam, and advises the parents not to put pressure on the children, to support and encourage them.
“I thank the teaching staff and the administrative staff for their efforts in preparing this stage of the baccalaureate in good conditions, according to this new methodology. It is not easy to change your routines, but we have to do it for the sake of the students! Last but not least, I tell parents not to put pressure on students, just hold them accountable and empathetically support them before and after the exam (regardless of the result), learning from the process (including through discussions with students and teachers) and trying to use it as best as possible in the education of their children”, Minister David also specified in the message sent four days before the Baccalaureate.
